#FunFriday It's a mystery?!

Today's #FunFriday blog involves Google, YouTube and Android phones!

So, a couple of years ago, a series of hundreds of seemingly random videos appeared on YouTube. All of them random lengths, playing random sounds and all featuring a set of blue and red squares moving in random ways.

It was a real mystery!
Was it aliens trying to communicate with us? Or was it a governmental secret message?
The answer sadly was neither.

Google (owner of YouTube) were testing their videos to ensure that quality wasn't being lost throughout the uploading process. Quite boring, considering the rumours surrounding it. But as a nice little nod to their uploading frenzy Google have built in a little homage to the flash fire.

To find it all you have to do is:

  • Access any Android phone
  • Go to settings
  • Select 'About Phone'
  • Then tap multiple times on 'Android Version' to see this appear:

Neat huh?!

They even released a 'Rick Roll' version!

And as with everything on the Internet, give people enough time and things will eventually get weird.
Our favourite is when this remix video gets to 0:36.
